This is just me being really bored. Summer begins this weekend (well, unofficially) and I have been compiling a playlist of excellent summery songs. I need your help. Post up a comment of some of your fav summer songs that are optimum for blasting in your car or playing while staring at the stars lying on your roof. I have a bunch already, but I'm sure there are more that can be added. I want this playlist to have about 100 songs and it has jsut over 50 now. This way, when I cruise down to the shore, I won't ahve to skip around for excellent driving music.
So get crackin'!

For blasting in the car:
Anything by The Ramones
Wham!'s Jitterbug
Toto's Africa
Rod Stewart's Young Turks or Rythym of my Heart
For looking at the stars:
Death Cab for Cutie's Transatlantism or Passanger Seat
Enya's May It Be
Imogen Heap's Hide and Seek
I have more, those are just the one's I can think of off the top of my head. My summer music also largely consists of a friend of mine's independent music. He's coming out with a new album in a week.
Is it just me, or does the Velvet Underground's I Can't Stand It Anymore have a very surf-rock-like sound? I enjoy that at the beach.
And living with thirteen dead cats.
For me summer songs fall into two country. First, cheesy rock blasting in the car on a summer road trip (stuff by Cream, The Beatles, The Eagles, or even ultra-cheese like Bryan Adams, SUmmer of 69). Second, funky euro-lounge playing in the garden when you have a summer party - so Gotan Project, Moloko, Verve Remixed....But hey, The Ramones It's Alive is good listening at any time of year.
The following FOW, in order, depending on how many you want:
Too Cool for School
It Must Be Summer
Valley of Malls
Also, if you can find it:
Dillinja - Twist 'Em Out
Thank you for that message. It really made me smile.
Anything Bryan Ferry. Anything. Thanks for the welcome!
